Short Avatar

From The Wastelands

While there's no strict dress code in The Wastelands, but there is a size limitation in effect only while playing the games here. It's okay to have a small shape for when you're not wearing the HUD, and a separate taller shape for when you are wearing the HUD.

How to Fix

If you're using a prefab or mesh avatar that is no modify, you may have to select a different appearance while playing the games in the Wastelands. Or you could always create or edit your own shape so that it is above 4' 6", or 1.3716 meters tall. You can check your height here inworld, simply click the green button on the post.

Reasoning

We're not using llCastRay() just yet, and we're still using our own inhouse version of casting rays that predates the function. This a bit old (5+ years), and not nearly as accurate as the new function. Because of this tiny avatars have an unfair advantage being so short with the old system. We're holding off on updating weapons and such until we finish the next iteration of the game.

What it isn't

This isn't a ban on child avatars. Child avatars are totally welcome in the estate, and equally allowed to RP here. If you think about it from a 'realistic' perspective, weapons being held by small people are unwieldy. A parent would probably forbid their offspring from doing very dangerous activities in a dangerous world. This is why 4' 6" was chosen as a short average height for a 12 year old (who averages 5').
