At one corner of the desolate barren known as Cormac, the Relic Excavator built a series of stalls and shacks around the old desert schooner wreck. This place is now known as the Barrelhead Bazaar: a semi-neutral place of gathering for salvage traders and roleplayers to meet and negotiate, exchange rumors and tales, eat and drink and entertain each other, and maybe even trade a few punches for a bit of scrap.

Although there's a certain level of organization for the event (traders and cooks and intermediate events), this is meant to be mostly freeform. The primary goal is roleplay interaction, not who can have the most stuff. If you're just hoarding salvage and ammo that you never use, please be willing to let go of some of it for the sake of this event.

BARRELHEAD BAZAAR

Time: Twice a Month. 1st Saturday: 11AM-1PM SLT. 2nd or 3rd Wednesday: 6PM-8PM SLT. Check the Calendar.

Location: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cormac/44/234/70

EVENT RULES

Since this is a Dev-hosted event, there are some simple rules I will enforce.

  1. Roleplay only. Please be in-character and be in theme. Wear a Ruin't tag. Wear your Wastelands HUD. Spectators are welcome to observe.
  2. No selling salvage for $Lindens. This is for In-Character barter and trade only.
  3. No gestures unless they're suitably tailored for RP. No movie/sound clips. No spamming.
  4. All of the regular Wastelands rules, Code of Conduct, etc. etc. apply.

If I have to send a warning, I will privately contact the person with an IM. If they refuse to cooperate, they'll be ejected. Please respect the rules, the event, and each other OOC and you'll be respected in kind.

EVENT FEATURES

  • The Barrel Stalls - salvage for salvage trade - (ongoing)
  • The Firepit - salvage for food trade - (ongoing)
  • Knucklehead Cage-fights - timed fistfights for salvage - (incidental)
  • The Auction - bidding on valuable salvage - (if time/attendance allows)
THE BARREL STALLS

Barrel Traders work the stalls hawking their wares while scavengers walk by looking to trade. You might strike a trade or an alliance with your neighbor in the next stall. You might even try to steal your neighbor's customer! All scavengers are welcome to trade with each other, not just the barrel traders exclusively.

What you trade and how you trade is entirely up to you BUT it must be currently active game items. Old Salvage is not allowed. While Food is available for trade at the Firepit, Barrel Traders may trade in salvage and food as necessary. Barrel Traders might also "specialize" in a specific stock or range of salvage items or trade everything (except food). Traders are encouraged to offer their valuable goods at the Auction (if there is one), but this isn't required. Barrel Traders are free to leave their stations at any time to visit another trader, the Firepit for food, or run to a nearby salvage crate!

If one of the Barrel Traders wants to offer self-made RP props (like home-brewed alcohol) in exchange for very basic/minor game items, they MUST convince me first. They will be required to make it clearly understood to their customer(s) that their prop is not a game-play item. It's only something for a little bit of flavor in RP interaction.

THE FIREPIT

At the Firepit, the Cooks feed hungry scavengers by trading Food for its BV equivalent in salvage.

To be a Barrel Trader or Cook, please send me a NOTECARD in-world. I don't expect all 12 stalls to fill but I may be wrong. This is a large group and my IM's might get capped, so please send a notecard. Cooks and Barrel Traders can show up early to get settled. You'll have a 15 prim-limit to decorate your stall for the day. Decorations must be in theme. Small signage with text and appropriate appearance. Faction banners, clan totems, etc. are allowed. If someone gets bored being a Cook/Barrel Trader, IM someone to see if they want to switch with you or just do it IC.

KNUCKLEHEAD CAGE-FIGHTS

By volunteers or triggered by a fight in the bazaar. Two (2) Fighters maximum for each fight. Each fighter wagers a piece of salvage. The 2 pieces must be of equal BV or recognized worth (because items are well-known to be more valuable than others despite sharing the same BV). The two pieces of salvage are given to the time-keeper (for now this will be me). After 3-5 minutes, the gong sounds and the two fighters stop and immediately send the timekeeper an IM with their health %. Please be honest. The fighter with the most remaining health wins both pieces of salvage. In case of a tie, the fighters will get back their salvage.

AUCTIONS

Everyone gathers inside the Schooner for the auction of highly valued/in demand salvage from some of the Barrel Traders (Barrel Traders: let me know if you're interested). Barrel Trader sets the starting bid (Be reasonable, not greedy). Spectators match, raise, or even lower the bid until the Trader accepts or withdraws.

Remember, this is NOT about who has or gets the most stuff. The focus and goal is to promote RP interaction as well as salvage-for-salvage trade.
